Location and classification
Dürrenberg is recorded as a single vineyard site of Wolfenweiler, a district of Schallstadt, in the Baden winegrowing region and in the Markgräflerland area.
Topography and soils
A regional tourism route leads, after crossing the K 4953, along a moderately rising stretch to the wine site located to the south. The vineyards lie in the foothills zone south of Freiburg and are described as warm. The soils consist of calcareous loess, loess loam and marl.
Wines and vinification
Under the name Wolfenweiler Dürrenberg, a dry quality wine from Baden with Pinot Gris is documented. Alpha-Wolf wines from the sites Batzenberg and Dürrenberg are produced from cultivation with reduced yields and are aged in 100 % new barriques and tonneaux casks.
Historical records
For the years 1825 to 1827, an hereditary fief over a Juchert of vineyard land at Dürrenberg in connection with Wolfenweiler is documented. From 1846 to 1847, a new vine lane was laid out there.
