Location and classification

The Domherrenberg is an officially registered single vineyard in Zell (Mosel) within the wine-growing region Mosel. It belongs to the Burg Cochem area and the large site Schwarze Katz. The vineyard directory lists the site under code 440402, with 3.3 hectares of planted vineyard area.

Topography and soil

A documented parcel in the Zeller Domherrenberg lies in the upper part of a steep slope, in a side valley of Zell, and higher than the other areas of the producer. It is completely oriented to the south. The soil there consists of pure grey slate with large quartz inclusions.

Grape varieties and wine-making

For the Domherrenberg, Weißburgunder and Riesling are documented. The Weißburgunder “Annamarktslay” PB 2023 is classified as a Mosel country wine, with 11.0% by volume alcohol and unfiltered bottling. The grapes were crushed and pressed; afterwards, the wine matured for 16 months in five-year-old 300-litre barrels. The vines of the documented parcel were stated as being 14 years old for the 2023 vintage.
