Location and classification
Domberg is an officially registered single vineyard in the Sobernheim district of Bad Sobernheim in the Nahe wine-growing region. The Vineyard Register 2024 lists the site under code 511335 in the Nahetal area and within the Großlage Paradiesgarten. The registered vineyard area is 21.1 hectares.
Relief and subsoil
Domberg comprises a south-facing former vineyard site. For a Domberg wine from the K. H. Schneider winery, cultivation on barren rock is described; the winery’s vineyards in Bad Sobernheim, including Domberg, are assigned to the Waderner beds of the Upper Rotliegend.
Wines and cultivation
For the site, dry Riesling with a pronounced mineral character and Riesling Spätlese with delicate sweetness and mineral depth are documented. The K. H. Schneider winery describes for its site wines, including Domberg, a selective harvest of the grapes from the best vineyards.
Former vineyard areas on Domberg are grazed every summer by mixed flocks of sheep and goats in order to keep the south-facing areas open.
