Location and classification
Daubhaus is the single vineyard of Ahrweiler Daubhaus in the Ahr winegrowing region. It lies within the town of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and extends across the cadastral areas of Ahrweiler and Bad Neuenahr. In the official vineyard register, it is listed as a single vineyard under number 110101 within the Großlage Klosterberg.
Topography and soils
The vineyards are oriented from south-west to south-east. Around 80 percent of the area is classified as steep slope, a further 20 percent as hillside. The elevation is given as 100 to 160 metres above sea level; the VDP-classified area lies at 135 to 185 metres and has a slope of 10 to 35 percent. Loess loam predominates, and weathered greywacke also occurs.
Area and grape varieties
The site covers about 35 hectares, of which, according to the official register, 13.6 hectares are planted with vines. Around 10 hectares of Spätburgunder and 3 hectares of Portugieser are documented. The VDP classifies a 10-hectare portion of Ahrweiler Daubhaus as VDP.ERSTE LAGE® for Spätburgunder.
