The site is located in the municipality of Bockenheim an der Weinstraße, in the cadastral district of Kleinbockenheim, and carries the wine-growing area number 820201.
Ownership and Soil
Burggarten is documented as an exclusive single-vineyard site owned solely by Schloss Janson winery. It is integrated into the walls of the winery and is well protected by them. The soil consists of calcareous loess.
Grape Variety and Sparkling Wine
Old Riesling vines are documented for Burggarten. The Riesling grapes serve as the basis for sparkling wines, including Deutscher Sekt b.A. Pfalz in the taste varieties brut and trocken. A documented Burggarten Riesling sparkling wine is fermented in a stainless-steel tank and then aged on the bottle; it is designated as brut and Deutscher Sekt b.A. Pfalz.
