Location and categorisation
Burg Maus is an officially designated single-vineyard site in the Loreley area of the wine-growing region Mittelrhein. The vineyard site is linked with Sankt Goarshausen as well as the districts of Wellmich and Ehrenthal.
Vineyard register and topography
In the official vineyard register, Burg Maus is listed under single-vineyard number 320505 within the Großlage Loreleyfelsen. For the cadastral district of Ehrenthal, less than one hectare, and for Wellmich 3.3 hectares, of planted vineyard area are recorded; both areas are marked as active. The portion in Wellmich lies as a steep-slope vineyard below the eponymous castle.
Grape varieties and wine styles
At Burg Maus, Riesling is grown primarily, along with small quantities of Spätburgunder. Documented wines include a dry Riesling Qualitätswein Mittelrhein from the 2024 vintage and a Wellmicher Burg Maus Riesling Auslese classified as sweet, from a product listing of 2025.
