Location and classification
Brückes is a registered single-vineyard in Bad Kreuznach in the wine-growing region Nahe. The site belongs to the Nahetal area and to the Großlage Kronenberg. In the 2024 vineyard register, 5.7 hectares of vineyards are recorded. The official wine-vineyard identification number is 510104.
Topography and soils
Brückes is predominantly oriented to the south to south-east. Around 90 percent of the area lies on slopes, about 10 percent is flatter. Described are south-east-facing slopes with gradients of up to 40 percent and an elevation of approximately 105 metres above sea level. The soil consists of weathered Rotliegend with sandy loam; further descriptions mention stony, sandy loam with Rotliegend and a low proportion of gravel.
Grape varieties and wine style
Rieslings from the wineries Gemünden, Anton Finkenauer as well as Lorenz and Söhne are documented for Brückes. The description includes dry quality wines with fruit, a mineral character and a firm structure. The Reichsgraf von Plettenberg estate highlights a particularly fruity bouquet in Rieslings from Brückes.
History and vinification
The name is attested for the year 1476 as “im Bruckes” and is linked to the historical term Brückgasse. Wine literature from the 19th century listed Brückes among the important Kreuznach vineyard sites. For a documented Riesling from the 2017 vintage, the grapes were read selectively after a preliminary harvest, pressed gently and partly left on the skins. Fermentation took place in two batches in stainless steel tanks, one of them spontaneous; afterwards, the wine remained on the full lees until January before the batches were blended.
