The vineyards of Oberfell, including the Oberfeller Brauneberg, are located in the mild and sunny Mosel terraced valley. The site is counted among the steep and very steep vineyard slopes of the Oberfell area.
Grape Variety and Wine Styles
For the Oberfeller Brauneberg, Riesling is documented. Recorded wines from the 2024 vintage include Riesling Kabinett in a delicately off-dry expression, as well as Riesling Hochgewächs in dry and delicately off-dry expressions.
Name and Farming
A historical study of Mosel vineyard names lists Braunberg as an Oberfell vineyard name. Accordingly, the name element “braun” is derived from wells (Brunnen) and not from the colour brown. A documented operation farms vineyards at the Oberfeller Brauneberg on a part-time basis.
