Location and classification
Böhlig is an officially recognised single-vineyard site in the wine-growing district Wachenheim an der Weinstraße in the Pfalz. It belongs to the larger site Mariengarten and is classified as VDP. First Site.
Topography and soils
The site lies at 145 to 165 metres above sea level, has a slope of 9 per cent and faces from north to south. The soil type is given as loamy sand. In addition, gravel from red and yellow sandstone and a high lime content are described.
Grape variety and wine
For Böhlig, Riesling is recorded as the classified grape variety. The documented Böhlig Riesling from Dr. Bürklin-Wolf is dry and is designated as VDP. First Site. For the 2024 vintage, 12 per cent alcohol, 6.9 grams of acidity and 4 grams of residual sugar per litre are given.
Vineyard area and harvest
The vineyard area of Böhlig comprises, according to the vineyard sites directory, 5.5 hectares. For the Böhlig Riesling of the 2024 vintage, a selective hand harvest in small picking crates and a gentle whole-cluster pressing are documented.
