Location and classification
Blüchertal is a legally registered single-vineyard site in the municipality and cadastral district of Kaub on the Middle Rhine. The site belongs to the quality winegrowing region of Mittelrhein, the Loreley area, and to the Großlage Herrenberg. The official vineyard site number is 320404.
Site and cultivation
Blüchertal is cultivated as a steep-slope vineyard. The bedrock is slate. Compared with the nearby site Rauschelay, the location is described as cool and frequently misty.
Vineyard area and grape varieties
In the official vineyard site directory, a total of 4.6 hectares of planted vineyard area are listed for the 2024 harvest. In two plots belonging to a Kaub producer, Riesling and Spätburgunder are documented.
History and wine
In Kaub, a land consolidation (Flurbereinigung) was carried out from 1969 to 1972 on 11 hectares. Since 1971, the areas have been cultivated under the vineyard site designations Blüchertal and Rauschelay. An official wine list records a wine named Kauber Blüchertal for 2024 in the taste profile feinherb.
