Location and surroundings
Bergwäldle is a vineyard site in Wiesloch in the Baden winegrowing region and belongs to the area of the Badische Bergstraße. The vineyards of Wiesloch lie at the transition between the Upper Rhine plain and the Kraichgau. The town of Wiesloch presents the Wieslocher Bergwäldle as one of the single sites in the winegrowing region near the Winzerkeller and the Bacchus Park.
Soil
For Bergwäldle, weathered Keuper soils with a high proportion of clay are described.
Grape varieties and wine styles
Documented are Riesling, Chardonnay, Spätburgunder, Lemberger, Weißburgunder and Grauburgunder. A wine from the 2020 vintage is a dry Spätburgunder Kabinett. From a vineyard managed by the Palatin team in the Wieslocher Bergwäldle, a delicately fruity Spätburgunder Rosé was also produced in the vintages 2012 to 2016.
Cultivation
The Palatin vineyard in the Wieslocher Bergwäldle has been farmed since 2012 in cooperation with the Winzerkeller Wiesloch. The Palatin team carried out year-round maintenance under the guidance of the Winzerkeller Wiesloch; the harvest is documented for Spätburgunder.
