Location and classification

The mountain is listed as the Roxheimer Berg in Roxheim in the Nahe wine region in Germany. The vineyard is classified as VDP.ERSTE LAGE®; this classification is a VDP classification and not a statutory German wine designation.

Topography and soils

The south-facing site lies at around 230 to 260 metres above sea level and has a slope of roughly 35 per cent. The prevailing geology is characterised by red slate in connection with Rotliegend. For wines from the Roxheimer Berg, red slate soils with sandy loam are also described.

Climate and vineyard areas

The Roxheimer Berg lies in the wind and rain shadow of the Soonwald and the Palatine highlands. The classified vineyard area covers 25.05 hectares. Riesling is documented as the classified grape variety.

Wines and vinification

Riesling Spätlesen are documented from the Roxheimer Berg. Technical information about these wines states fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
