The wine-growing site is documented under the full name Oberschüpfer Altenberg. It is assigned to Oberschüpf, a district of Boxberg in the lower Schüpfer Grund.
History and Tradition
Winegrowing in Oberschüpf and Unterschüpf has historical roots. After land consolidation and the construction of a frost-protection irrigation system, local winegrowing was revived at the beginning of the 1970s. Both districts also have a traditional right to bottle wine in Bocksbeutel bottles.

For Oberschüpfer Altenberg, Schwarz Riesling is documented. The red quality wine made from it from Baden is semi-dry and has 11.5 % alcohol, 4.6 g/l acidity and 13.8 g/l residual sugar.
