Natural region and climate

The further landscape of the Frankenhöhe is characterised by Keuper, forested ridges and broad valleys cut to a depth of around 30 to 50 metres. In the eastern part, heights of often 450 to 550 metres are reached. For the Frankenhöhe growth region, the mean annual temperature for the reference period 1991 to 2020 is 8.9 °C, and the average annual precipitation is 700 millimetres; with elevation, the values change.

History

A Neolithic find north-east of Walddachsbach indicates a possible settlement between about 5000 and 1800 BC. The place was first mentioned in documents between 1317 and 1322 under the name “Daspach”. Around 1360, the settlement comprised four fiefs, two Hufen and six tax-liable farms. Walddachsbach existed for a time as an independent municipality from about 1824 to 1972 and was incorporated in 1972 into a larger municipality.
