Location on the Nahe and Glan
Staudernheim lies on the middle Nahe at the foot of the Disibodenberg. Here, the Glan flows into the Nahe.
Valley landscape and surroundings
The Sobernheimer valley area around Staudernheim is considered to be almost as dry and warm as the Lower Nahe heights. Towards the outer hills, the annual rainfall rises to about 600 to 650 millimetres. The surrounding hills reach approximately 340 metres. Steep south and west slopes face gentler, loess-covered slopes in the east.
Geology and winegrowing
The valley area was eroded into the softer conglomerates and sandstones of the Waderner beds of the Upper Rotliegend. The single vineyard Herrenberg is located in the cadastral area of Staudernheim and, according to the 2024 vineyard register, covers 2.9 hectares.
On a historic vineyard slope, dry stone walls and stone steps were restored. The vines grow on the lower slope; between the walls, the upper areas were cleared of scrub, leaving individual trees, smaller shrubs and boundary vegetation.
