Location and landscape
Seitenroda is a municipality in Thuringia at the foot of the Leuchtenburg. The municipal area covers 405 hectares. The Leuchtenburg lies on the Lichtenberg, which is roughly 400 metres high, within the municipal area.
History and townscape
The Leuchtenburg was first mentioned in written records in 1221. The settlement at its foot probably came into being at around the same time. The historic core of the town of Seitenroda has been preserved largely unchanged; individual buildings show visible half-timbering and covered passageways.
Wine-law classification
Seitenroda belongs to the protected designation of origin Saale-Unstrut. In the official register of vineyard sites for 2024, the cadastral district is assigned to the Thuringian cadastral districts without being attributed to a specific single site.
