Location and Landscape
Niederhausen an der Appel is a local municipality in the Donnersberg district in Rhineland-Palatinate and lies in the Appelbach valley. The municipal area includes elevated areas at Homberg with views over the Appeltal, Rhenish Hesse Switzerland, the Palatinate and the Donnersberg.
Geology and History
Fossil finds from the Permian period may reach the planning area of Niederhausen an der Appel. These are around 297 million years old. The municipality was first documented in 1325 under the name Niderhusen.
Climate
