Location on the Moselle
Nehren is a wine-growing village on the Moselle in the district of Cochem-Zell in Rhineland-Palatinate and belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Cochem. The village lies at the southern end of a broad ridge of vineyards behind a former branch of the Moselle.
Vineyard sites and vines
The vineyards surround the settlement. Above Nehren, the vineyard site Römerberg rises. For a wine from the year 2011 from the Nehren Römerberg, Riesling Spätlese feinherb is documented.
History and Roman relics
Nehren was first mentioned in a document in the year 634. High up in the vineyards above the village there are two Roman grave chambers. In addition, the municipality has a stone from a historical Roman wine press.
