Location and landscape
Münsterappel is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis district in Rhineland-Palatinate and belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Nordpfälzer Land. The town is located in the landscape unit of Appelhöhen in the North Palatinate Uplands. The Appelbach forms the most important drainage system in the surrounding area.

In the cadastral area of Münsterappel, the vineyard site Graukatz is recorded. It is also mentioned in a regional study of vineyard sites of Nahe.
History
Münsterappel is documented in a preserved deed from the year 893 under the name Apola in connection with the Benedictine abbey of St Maximin in Trier. A landscape inventory also identifies the place as an early-documented winegrowing location in the Alsenzer heights, with a record from the year 860. Up to the end of the 18th century, Münsterappel belonged to the Wild and Rhine County; in 1946 it became part of the newly founded state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
