Königsberg was first mentioned in 1234, received market rights in 1333 and town rights in 1358. On 1 July 1920, the town became part of Bavaria following the merger of the Free State of Coburg with Bavaria; at the same time, the name suffix changed from in Franken to in Bayern.

Winegrowing in Unfinden

In the district of Unfinden, winegrowing has been documented since the 14th century. The local vineyard Kinnleitenberg is listed in the Bavarian vineyard directory for Königsberg i.Bay. and Unfinden in the Abt Degen Weintal area and covers 3.19 hectares.

Kinnleitenberg

The Kinnleitenberg lies on a projecting spur of the Haßberge, with a south-west orientation and a steep south-facing slope; to the north there is a wooded ridge. The site has dark Keuper and loamy-clayey soils. These conditions are associated with a special local microclimate and wines that ripen fully and are full-bodied. On the site, Bacchus, Müller-Thurgau, Grüner Silvaner, Portugieser, Müllerrebe, or Schwarzriesling, Domina and Dornfelder are listed.
