Humprechtsau

Location and affiliation

Humprechtsau is an officially recognised district of Bad Windsheim in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Franconia and is therefore part of Bavaria.

History

The place is documented as an Osing community and has belonged to Bad Windsheim since the Bavarian territorial reform of 1972. The municipality derives the local name from Hunbreht, who is mentioned around the year 790 as the founder or as the earlier landlord of the settlement site.

Osing and viticulture

Humprechtsau is connected with the Osing, a farming highland area of around 274 hectares between Humprechtsau, Herbolzheim, Krautostheim and Rüdisbronn. The agricultural plots are redistributed there every ten years by draw; historical records also mention vineyards as collectively leased land.

In the Franconian vineyard classification, Humprechtsau is assigned to the area Mittelfränkische Bocksbeutelstraße and the greater location Burgberg. The vineyard designation Rosenberg is registered; in addition, further designated vineyard parcels are maintained for Humprechtsau.
