Gensingen is an Ortsgemeinde in the Lower Nahe region with about 4,000 inhabitants. The municipality belongs to the wine-growing region Rheinhessen.

Viticulture and soils

Gensingen is a wine-growing municipality. The local wines are marketed by the winegrowers and offered for tasting in local tasting rooms. In the municipal area there are former river deposits with sand and gravel sediment, which are designated as vineyard soils.

Goldberge vineyard site

The Goldberge is an officially recognised designation for a vineyard site near Gensingen. For the vineyard site, sandy-loamy soils and loess are described. It is associated, among other things, with Riesling, Chardonnay, Grauburgunder, Sauvignon Blanc, Dornfelder, Merlot, Spätburgunder, Frühburgunder and Cabernet Sauvignon. Documented are dry Chardonnay, dry Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling Classic, as well as dry Spätburgunder and dry Cabernet Sauvignon.
