Location
Feuerthal is a district of Hammelburg in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen in Bavaria. The place lies to the north-east of Hammelburg, near the A7 motorway, and belongs to the region Franken.
Landscape
An official hiking trail through Feuerthal and its vineyards runs at elevations of around 240 to 370 metres above sea level. Along the way, there are views into the Thulbatal and the Franconian Saaletal.
Vine growing
The town of Hammelburg describes Feuerthal as a small wine village that is associated with the Feuerthaler Kreuz wine-growing area. In the larger Hammelburger Burg area in the Main triangle, the sites Feuerthaler Kreuz and Westheimer Altenberg are also listed.
History
Feuerthal was first mentioned in documents in 1303 and became part of Hammelburg on 1 April 1972. Historical records show wine tithes for the Zimmerberg area in 1669 and a vineyard lease agreement from 1672 for a vineyard on the Scheinberg.
