Location and Elevation
Breitscheid is an independent municipality in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate. It lies between the Rhine and the Hunsrück.
The municipality is situated at an average elevation of about 380 metres above sea level and is described as the highest-lying municipality in the Mainz-Bingen district.
Mittelrhein Wine-Growing Region
Breitscheid belongs to the designated wine-growing area Mittelrhein. The individual vineyard site Schloß Stahlberg is also assigned to this wine-growing area and is linked in the regional classification with Bacharach, not with Breitscheid.
