Location and landscape
Allstedt lies in the Goldene Aue landscape, at the foot of the southern Harz mountains and the Querfurt plateau near the border with Thuringia. The municipal area includes agriculturally shaped land, hillside locations and lowland areas.
Vine-growing on the Roter Berg
The Rote Berg is listed as a single site in the wine-growing sites register for the region Saale-Unstrut. As at 31 December 2024, the planted vineyard area covers 7.1545 hectares. The registration as a single site was documented in 2019.
For the Rote Berg, Chardonnay has been documented as dry and Dornfelder as semi-dry German quality wine.
Historic viticulture
For Holdenstedt, historic vineyards have been passed down. This includes a vineyard which, around 1120, is said to have been transferred together with land ownership to a foundation.
