History and cultivation
According to the winery Stein, vineyards in Senheim, including Vogteiberg, belonged to the Cologne cathedral chapter from 1140 until the secularisation around 1800. They supplied wine for religious services and for everyday use. For vineyards including Vogteiberg, goblet trellis training, hand-harvesting and careful processing are documented. Purchased grapes from Vogteiberg were read under strict selection and developed as dry Riesling.
