Location and landscape
The St. Annaberg vineyard is located in Burrweiler on the Southern Wine Route in the wine-growing region Pfalz. The plots, some of them terraced, lie below the St. Anna Chapel. A wine from the site is stated by the producer at an altitude of around 355 metres above sea level.
Climate and soils
The Palatinate Forest protects the vineyard from storms and contributes to a cooler local climate suitable for Riesling. Air currents from the Rhine plain are also described. The soils consist of sand and sandy, weathered rock.
Cultivation and wines
The Sankt Annaberg winery cultivates the vineyard as a monopole site organically. The documented grape variety is Riesling. The wines are described as clear and mineral, with floral notes of white blossoms. According to the producer, the site combines fruit ripeness with cool acidity.
Winery and designation
The Sankt Annaberg winery has belonged to the Lergenmüller family since 1998. Burrweiler St. Annaberg is listed as a legally registered wine-site designation for a more specific indication of geographic origin.
