Location and classification
The St. Anne Chapel is an officially listed single vineyard site in Flörsheim am Main within the quality winegrowing region Rheingau. It belongs to the Großlage Daubhaus and covers around 0.5 hectares of planted area.
Terroir and grape varieties
The vineyard lies on a steep, west-facing slope between the Wiesenmühle on the Wickerbach and the St. Anne Chapel. The soil consists of calcareous loess with gravelly components from the Main terraces. In the Rheingau vineyard directory, Riesling is listed as the grape variety; the Wiesenmühle also names Rivaner for wines from this site.
History and wines
The site is named after the St. Anne Chapel, which was built in 1715 as a chapel associated with the Wiesenmühle. The site is in the sole possession of the Wiesenmühle inn. Published descriptions of the wines link it to a mineral character as well as pronounced, fruit-forward and racy acidity.
