Location and classification
In local usage, Rosenberg is associated with Senheim on the Moselle. Descriptions of the place locate the vineyards near a Marien chapel dating from the 18th century, which locally is known as Oberstes Häusschen. The official wine-growing site register of Rhineland-Palatinate lists Rosenberg for the 2024 harvest year in the Mosel area under the municipality and cadastral district of Neef; for Senheim, Römerberg is listed there, not Rosenberg.
Soils and vines
The site, locally referred to as Senheimer Rosenberg, consists almost entirely of weathered slate. It is part of the steep vineyards characterised by slate around Senheim and lies on the edge of the village at the foot of the vineyard. For the site, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Kerner, Bacchus, Spätburgunder and Dornfelder are named.
Cultivation
According to a local business, the vines are trained using the traditional Bogreben system. The grapes are hand-harvested and then treated gently.
