Location and classification
Münsterberg is a legally registered single vineyard site in the district of Karden within the municipality of Treis-Karden in the Mosel. The vineyard site is located in the cadastral district of Karden and belongs to the large vineyard area of Goldbäumchen as well as to the Burg Cochem area.
Wine-law details
In the wine sites register of Rhineland-Palatinate, Münsterberg is listed under the official wine site number 440131. According to the official register, the planted vineyard area is less than one hectare.
Terraces and cultivation
Münsterberg is part of the steep vineyard slopes of Karden and is cultivated as a terraced vineyard area. For a documented plot of land, a Monorack rack-and-pinion railway was used to transport people and viticultural materials. The plot of land had existing and in part rebuilt terrace walls; some boundary terraces were left uncultivated due to difficult access and insufficient exposure to sunlight.
