The deeper, comparatively heavy soils contain weathered blue slate as well as an increased proportion of sand and clay. Riesling is documented as the grape variety of the site; from this, Mosel quality wines and late harvest wines are produced.
Name and land consolidation
A local producer associates the name with the site below the ruins of a monastery dating from the 16th century. A simplified land consolidation procedure designated Wolf (Klosterberg) was initiated by an administrative decision of 9 December 2025.
