The vineyards of Maikammer benefit climatically from the protection provided by the Kalmit, the 673-metre-high summit of the Palatinate Forest. For Kirchenstück, predominantly relatively homogeneous sandy loam is given.
Grape Varieties and Wines
The sandy loam soil is considered suitable for Riesling and Burgundian varieties, in particular Spätburgunder. A Kirchenstück Riesling is described as having aromas of grapefruit, ripe peach and quince, together with pronounced acidity.

Kirchenstück is assigned to the large vineyard area Mandelhöhe; in the vineyard sites register 2024, 48.6 hectares of planted vineyard area are listed. For a Kirchenstück Riesling, organically grown grapes are given; the winery describes its cultivation as biodynamic.
