Johannisbrünnchen
Johannisbrünnchen is a vineyard site in Bernkastel within Bernkastel-Kues in the wine-growing region Mosel. The site lies above the Bernkasteler Lay and the Dr. Loosen winery.
Site and soils
The vineyard faces west to south-west and is situated at an altitude of 150 to 325 metres above sea level. The slope gradient is 40 to 50 per cent. The VDP describes blue and grey slate as the soil; Dr. Loosen classifies the site as a classic Devon slate site of Bernkastel.

Johannisbrünnchen is classified as VDP.GROSSE LAGE and comprises 13.76 hectares. The classified grape variety listed is Riesling.
Wine style and history
The Rieslings from Johannisbrünnchen are described as being shaped by minerality, fruit-driven and elegant, with a classic slate character. A documented Johannisbrünnchen Riesling ice wine from Joh. Jos. Prüm was produced from Riesling grapes, hand-picked and fermented spontaneously with wild yeasts in a stainless-steel tank. The vineyard site gave the Dr. Loosen winery its historic name St. Johannishof.
