Location and classification

The Frauensteiner Herrenberg is a wine-growing site in Frauenstein, a district of Wiesbaden in the wine-growing region Rheingau. As a Rheingau single site, it covers 58.6 hectares.

Name and soils

The name goes back to earlier ownership by ecclesiastical or secular rulers. The soils consist of moderately to deep-rooting loess loams as well as phyllite soils containing loess-loam components.

Vines and wines

The cultivated grape variety listed is Riesling. For wines from the site, Riesling and Spätburgunder are documented. In humid years, the wines are described as full-bodied, with fine fruit acidity and a harmonious character.
