The vineyard known as Herrenberg is the Avelsbacher Herrenberg in the Aveler valley near Trier-Kürenz. It lies in Trier and belongs to the winegrowing region Mosel.

Wine landscape and history

The Avelsbacher Herrenberg forms part of the vineyard landscape on the slopes around the Aveler Bach. An documented wine trail leads through the site and climbs up to Thielsburg. The Avelsbach winery was set up around 1900 by the Prussian state as a model operation for winegrowing and wine storage; the associated farm buildings were built between 1900 and 1909.

Grape varieties and wine style

For wines from the Avelsbacher Herrenberg, Riesling is documented. These include sparkling wines in the Brut and Crémant-Brut style.
