Location and classification
Häs'chen is an officially registered single vineyard in the Dhron cadastral area of the municipality of Neumagen-Dhron in the winegrowing region Mosel. In the VDP, it is classified as VDP.GROSSE LAGE® under the name HÄS'CHEN, Dhron. The classified area covers 0.27 hectares; the entry in the wine-growing sites directory bears the code 410430.
Topography and vines
The site consists of steep terraces with an easterly aspect. It lies on grey slate with a proportion of quartzite. The classified variety is listed as Riesling. The area is a monopoly and is entirely owned by the VDP.Weingut A.J. Adam. There are own-rooted Riesling vines there dating from the 1930s.
Climate
According to the operator’s description, Häs'chen receives less extreme heat and direct sunlight than warmer sites. Under increasing climatic warmth, the eastern aspect is assessed as beneficial.
Wine style and vinification
Documented Häs'chen Kabinett wines are described as fruity, light Rieslings with pronounced acidity as well as herb and slate notes. Their profile is elegant and finely structured. One documented Kabinett wine was fermented spontaneously and matured in stainless steel. In 2014, A.J. Adam expanded its portfolio of wine-growing sites to include the monopoly Häs'chen.
