Location and classification

Gräfenberg is an officially registered single vineyard in Freckenfeld within the Großlage of Guttenberg in the winegrowing region of Pfalz. The vineyard directory lists the site in the Freckenfeld cadastral area under vineyard number 810203. For the directory for 2024, 73.1 hectares of planted vineyard area are given.

Relief and soil

The site is described as a loess hill location typical of southern Pfalz. The sub-parcel Wurmberg reaches a height of around 176 metres and has slope gradients of up to 25 per cent. A high proportion of limestone in the soil is documented for the Wurmberg.

Grape varieties and wines

In the site, among other varieties, Cabernet varieties, Gewürztraminer and in part Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling are grown. For wines from the Freckenfeld Gräfenberg, Gelber Muskateller, Grauburgunder, Spätburgunder and Cabernet Cortis are also documented. The documented wine styles include dry Riesling, dry Gelber Muskateller, dry Grauburgunder as Spätlese and dry Sauvignon Blanc as Spätlese.
