Historical background

Fuchshöhle belonged to the former agricultural and viticultural estate of the von der Leyen family in Gondorf. The name is explained in local cultural history by the fact that foxes approached the geese in the neighbouring vineyard, Gäns.

During secularisation, the vineyard was taken away from the first prince, Philipp Franz von der Leyen, and sold to a winemaker in Gondorf.
