Pinot noir and history
From Könener Fels, the red wine “Vom Fels” is documented with the grape variety Pinot noir (Spätburgunder). The vineyard was already known in the late 19th century for outstanding Pinot noir; a wine from there received the highest award among German red wines at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900. For Könen, steep-slope viticulture is also documented.
