Location and classification
Erkenbrecht is an officially recorded single vineyard site in the Neustadt town district and cadastral area of the city of Neustadt an der Weinstraße in the wine-growing region Pfalz. The site is assigned to the Mittelhaardt/Deutsche Weinstraße area and the Großlage Rebstöckel. Its official wine-growing site number is 821109.
Area and soil
The 2024 vineyard register lists 7.3 hectares of planted vineyard area for Erkenbrecht. The soil is described as gravelly sand over loam.
Riesling from Erkenbrecht
From Neustadt’s Erkenbrecht, Riesling is documented, including dry wines with the designation of the site. A 2021 vintage is listed with 13.0 per cent alcohol, 3.5 grams of residual sugar per litre and 7.9 grams of acid per litre. The designation Neustadter Erkenbrecht Riesling is also evidenced in a wine notice dated 25 May 1939.
