Enggaß

Location and classification

Enggaß is an officially recognised single vineyard within the municipality and cadastral area of Thörnich in the wine-growing region Mosel. The vineyards of Thörnich, which include Enggaß, are located mainly on steep slopes on the opposite bank of the Mosel from the town centre.

Area and topography

In the official register of wine-growing sites 2024, 8.4 hectares of planted vineyard area are recorded for Enggaß in Thörnich. A section oriented to the west is described as a steep slope; the vines there receive late-day light. Farming the steep slope is labour-intensive.

Grape variety and wine character

In a section oriented to the west of Thörnicher Enggaß, there are vines around 50 years old. Riesling is grown there. The Rieslings from this parcel are described as structured, piquant and mineral.
