Location
Bußlay is a documented vineyard site of Erden on the right bank of the Moselle and lies around the town. The site belongs to the Großlage Schwarzlay in the winegrowing region Mosel.
Soil and Topography
Bußlay is described as a comparatively flat vineyard site. The deep, loamy soil is attributed to sediment deposits on the inside of a bend in the Moselle.
Grape Varieties
For wines from the Erdener Bußlay, Weißburgunder is documented. In addition, Kerner is evidenced in a Bußlay Spätlese. Riesling, Müller-Thurgau and Dornfelder are mentioned in connection with combined holdings in the Erdener Bußlay and Erdener Treppchen.
Wine Styles
Bußlay wines are documented as Prädikatswein of the Spätlese category, including examples from Riesling and Kerner. In addition, an Erdener Bußlay Eiswein from the 1992 vintage is evidenced.
