Location and Classification
Burglay is a named single-vineyard site in the Kövenig district of the municipality of Kröv on the Mosel. It is assigned to the Bernkastel area and the Großlage Nacktarsch.
Landscape and Geology
The vineyard site lies on a steep slate slope, or on a slate wall. The municipality of Kröv describes Burglay as a vineyard site of around 18 hectares; in the 2024 vineyard register, the planted vineyard area is given as less than one hectare.
Name and Historical Connection
The name Burglay is linked to the Celtic refuge fort on today’s Burgberg. The vineyards are located on its slopes.
