Location and Landscape
Brückstück is a named wine-growing site in Winningen in the terraced steep-slope landscape of the Mosel near Koblenz. The vineyards are supported by dry-stone walls. A documented Brückstück parcel shows a south to south-easterly aspect.
Climate and Geology
The viticultural climate in Winningens Mosel site is described as mild. South-facing steep slopes are considered particularly suitable for viticulture. Brückstück is characterised by Devonian slate and pumice stone, which was deposited about 12,000 years ago during the eruption of the Laacher See. In addition, basalt is documented, which was formed as cooled magma from volcanic eruptions about 15,000 years ago.

For Brückstück, wines made from Riesling are documented. The wines from this site are described as having clear fruit and harmonious mineral notes.
History of the Name
Around 1330, stone was quarried at Brückstück for the construction of the Balduin Bridge in Koblenz and transported for shipment along the Mosel to Koblenz. This event gave the wine-growing site its name.
