Location and classification
Belz is a legally registered single-vineyard site in Wachenheim an der Weinstraße in the Mittelhaardt/Deutsche Weinstraße area of the Palatinate. The site belongs to the Großlage Mariengarten and carries the vineyard site number 820818.
Soil and ownership
The roughly one-hectare vineyard site is characterised by red Buntsandstein (coloured sandstone) with interbedded, calcareous Muschelkalk deposits. Sandy loam and lime are also described. Villa Wolf cultivates Belz as a monopoly vineyard in its sole ownership.
Wines
Dry Riesling is produced from Belz. The documented descriptions link it with ripe acidity, structured finesse, minerality and a flint note shaped by the sandstone and limestone soils. A portfolio also lists Spätburgunder as wine from the single-vineyard site Belz.
