A historical viticulture map of the Trier administrative district from 1906 documents the vineyard area around Wehlen and is linked to the site entry Wehlener Abtei. In addition, “Abtei” is included in the official vineyard sites list of Rhineland-Palatinate for 2024 among the entries for Bernkastel-Kues.

For the Wehlener Abtei, Riesling is documented by a Wehlener Abtei Riesling Auslese produced in 2004 from the winery Joh. Jos. Prüm. This also provides evidence of a wine in the Auslese style from this site.
