Location and landscape
Schwegenheim is a municipality covering 12.27 square kilometres in the district of Germersheim in Rhineland-Palatinate and lies in the Pfalz. The municipality is situated on the eastern edge of the Gäu in the Rhine plain between the Haardt and the Palatinate Forest areas and Speyer on the Rhine. The Hainbach flows through Schwegenheim.
Surroundings
The landscape around Schwegenheim is predominantly flat and is shaped by fields, meadows and woodland. In the Modenbachtal, the municipality describes gentle meadows.
Viticulture
The Bründelsberg is linked with Schwegenheim as a vineyard site. A deed of donation from the year 985 provides evidence of payments of wine and grain to the Weißenburg Abbey and is cited by the municipality as an indication of early wine-growing in Schwegenheim.
