Location
Bausendorf is an Ortsgemeinde in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich in Rhineland-Palatinate. The municipality lies in the lower Alf valley at the foot of the Kondelwald and belongs to Mosel. The municipality of Bausendorf also includes the locality of Olkenbach, which lies about one kilometre to the north-west in the lower Alf valley.
Viticulture
The Bausendorf vineyard sites are located in the cadastral area of Olkenbach. These include the officially recorded individual vineyard sites Herzlay and Hubertuslay in the Mosel winegrowing region. Herzlay bears vineyard site number 410901, Hubertuslay the number 41 09 02.
History
Olkenbach was first mentioned in 1075 in a document concerning the transfer of property to the Simeonstift in Trier. The present-day municipality of Bausendorf was formed on 7 June 1969 through the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Bausendorf and Olkenbach.
